The Thresher was one of two SSN's lost at sea by the US Navy. She was a follow-on design to the Skipjack class.
Thresher was lost on April 10, 1963. The second boat in the class to be USS Permit. The US Navy
decided to rename the class as the Permit class due to the loss of the lead boat.

The Blue Water Navy kit measures 9.25 inches long and is a perfect starter kit. The hull is a single casting with metal dive planes. A small photo etched brass sheet is included.
