Northampton Class Cruiser
CA-30 USS Houston
$215.00

The Houston was the fourth of the five "treaty cruisers" built during the 1930s. Houston was one of only three American cruisers to win the Presidential Unit Citation.

On March 1st. 1942, Houston took on 3 Japanese cruisers and 12 destroyers of the Imperial Japanese Navy. The outcome never in doubt, she was lost with 700 of her crew. The Captain, A.H. Rooks was awarded the Medal of Honor (posthumously) for this action.

The Blue Water Navy kit is the first and most accurate kit of this ship on the market today. Measuring 20.5 inches long, this kit is highly detailed. The upper hull is cast as a single piece casting split at the waterline so the modeler can have a choice as to full hull or waterline model. All the large parts, turrets, bridge, and smoke stacks are cast in resin. All small parts are cast in fine pewter. An extensive photo-etched brass sheet includes all the finishing touches. Instructions are complete including painting suggestions. The model depicts the ship as she was in 1942.
